Brings back memories of when I was in Turkey in 1980. Turkish toilets kind of like that trench picture in the clip or just a hole in the floor. One quickly learned to ask if hotels or restaurants had Turkish or Western bathrooms when traveling around the country. I'm kind of with SFC George Smith on what those shown look like.

In 1954/5, a movie theatre restroom in Japan had the porcelain, mixed use trench toilets for all comers. They also did not have toilet paper, I demurred and waited till returning to the hotel.
