Why would they, it was a bilateral arms treaty that they were not a party to.
And by the way, they have a very specific enemy in Taiwan that they need a certain range weapon to hit.

I hope we take them at their word. The world should be weary of apologists who claim that people don't really mean what they say. They couldn't. Surely, they mean something else, something that shouldn't cause us to worry or take defensive action. WWII was the result of leaders who refused to take Hitler at his word...

The Chinese dating back to Marco Polo have never had any interest in expanding and they are more interested in money than war. Only time this has proved otherwise was when US forces got to close to their borders in Korea. Look at how much US debt they hold, going to war with the US would destroy their payment plan. The Chinese would rather work their own people to death to make a dollar than attack.
