China vows to crack down on funeral strippers

When I was stationed in Hawaii, I attended the funeral of a young man KIA in Vietnam. His mother worked in one of the USARPAC HQ offices. At the conclusion of the graveside service, each of us was handed a small package wrapped in glossy red paper. One of the other attendees, a young woman of Chinese ethnicity, saw my confusion and told me that it was traditional to pay the mourners. Like a fool I opened it to see what was inside and found a US nickel. I should have simply saved it as the token it was meant to be. I remembered that incident when I read this article and wondered if someone had decided that it was cheaper to pay one stripper than all the mourners...
