Exploitation of rare earth materials and precious metals, of which Afghanistan has in abundance. But that's largely overshadowed by the politics and our current occupation of that nation. The problem with this particular mineral-rich country, besides the ethnic and international strife, is that they are nowhere near a port. Being landlocked, especially these days, really sucks.

It is obvious, they are in it for the mineral wealth. But the Chinese government is not well liked by some Muslim groups due to their treatment of some groups under their rule. They may find it a costly venture.

well at one time the Buddhist once occupied the area for 2000 years... and it is Part of the Chinese Home area... but they can Play with the bad guys and don't have to answer to the Morons in congress...
