I love the comparison between Tolkien's epic stories and the Bible. Tolkien's work is far better (more logically) constructed than the Bible. He was its singular author. The Bible is a compilation of lore/stories created by many people. Advantage: Tolkien. Much of the confusion in the Bible also stems from the fact that different Hebrew tribes shared different versions of the same story. Thus, when they sat down to compile "The One" version, every story became a compromise edition. Now, for those who take exception with my view of a book they feel is divinely inspired, they may, if they want, consider that God directed the compromises (and not think ill of me). That being said, I really like the introduction to this video in its explanation of the relationship between "Mythos" and "Logos". Excellent...
