It is the duty of parents and churches to educate children on matters of faith, it's time the religious right stopped trying to blame government and public schools for their failure. That said, I doubt a religion that teaches it's adherents to "lean not upon their own understanding" is going to be particularly strong on introspection although there are certainly some notable exceptions such as Kierkegaard and Kant.

Mr. Robinson's solution in search of a problem, is definitely going to be perceived as a problem by many Americans such as myself, were he and his allies ever to co-opt government to implement his solution. It's why Catholics and Protestants killed each other for hundreds of years and why Shia and Sunni Muslims still kill each other today. It's why Christians declared Crusades against Northeast European Pagans. If government is gong to take sides with regard to religious belief, people are more than willing to kill in order to ensure that government takes their religious view. The only reasonable solution is to have a government that is gives no favoritism or advantage to any religion.
