I agree, civil engineers do some great work but they don't necessarily do it alone. For example, from the list of structures identified here: the Sydney Opera House was designed by Jorn Utzon, a Danish architect, who won the international competition held for Australia's national opera house in 1957; and the Empire State Building was designed by the architectural firm of Shreve, Lamb & Harmon. The civil engineering - foundation and structural designs - followed the architectural designs of each structure.

Don’t get me started. I appreciate architects, but they typically come up with a concept and rely on a structural to pull their fat out of the fire. If you can’t tell I’m a structural, among some other disciplines.
