On October 11, 1948, the Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Braves 4 games to 2 in the 45th World Series. A glorious day for Cleveland! Unfortunately, Cleveland now owns the longest drought since the Cubs won in 2016. There was a controversy in the series. In game one, Bob Feller made a pick off attempt at Phil Masi at second base. Indians' shortstop Lou Boudreau appeared to tag Masi out, but umpire Bill Stewart called him safe. Masi left a note in his will in 1990 that he was indeed tagged out. The great Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller, Navy CPO, never won a World Series Game.
