The rather simple timeline belies the assertion of the article. The author left out the history preceding the DNC hiring Fusion GPS. During the primaries in September 2015, a GOP donor hired Fusion GPS for opposition research against President Trump. In April, when it became apparent that President Trump would win the primary, the GOP donor terminated the contract with Fusion GPS. Fusion GPS offered the research project to the DNC and the DNC payed for it. Fusion GPS subcontracted Orbis Business Intelligence, Christopher Steele's company, for research.

This is no scandal. Oppo research is an ugly reality in politics today.

Can Fusion GPS walk and chew gum at the same time? Were the Democrats the heirs to research on Trump or did they initiate some of it themselves? I heard some of the stories an thought BS. Were the Democrats dumb enough

Sgt Wayne Wood - The Washington Examiner reported there’s no evidence a Republican donor first funded the research during the primary campaign:

According to best knowledge today, Steele was *never* funded by Republicans.https://t.co/TTC2VmjhL7
