KODIAK, Alaska — "Assault-style" guns are no longer being sold at four Coast Guard exchange stores that handle firearms, the agency confirmed.
John Riley, chief operating officer for Coast Guard exchanges, said the stores define assault-style weapons as semi-automatic guns with magazines with a capacity of at least 20 rounds, the Kodiak Daily Mirror reported.
The Coast Guard base in Kodiak is the largest in the Pacific.
The decision to stop sales of the assault-style guns followed the June 12 shooting at an Orlando, Florida, night club in which 49 people were killed.

"Assault-style" guns - seriously.. I supposed because something looks scary it must be; weird because I thought that simple mindedness was done away with in the 70s and 80s..

SOME people actually believe that the 'vehicle used' to cause death is what MUST be outlawed!
With all of the drunk driving cars, buses, and trucks, I can't understand why we are not ALL required to use HORSE, CAMELS, and OXEN?
PEOPLE don't kill people, what they USE are to blame and should be OUTLAWED! Thank GOD they haven't realized that SILVERWARE causes deaths!!!

The simplest comparison...just because your mom can wear high heels and make-up doesn't make her a prostitute. Just because a gun looks one way doesn't make it more dangerous than another type or style of gun.

This is for "what" reason at a CG base? Most of us have background checks and security clearances. CG has become to politically correct in my opinion. Thank goodness I'm out! Miss the old guard!
