Everyone involved or witnessed this should be discharged. If I were in the room when this took place, I would have respectfully interrupted the Commander and asked to speak with him before continuing. The oath is a very serious commitment and not a GD joke! This was the height of unprofessional behavior!!!

What did they think? They think taking that oath is a joke? Pathetic actions from a senior officer and senior nco. Take your job serious and save the joking for when appropriate.

I don't have a clue. I'm forever a joker and smart ass, but I can't put myself in the mindset to find a re-enlistment a funny situation. As I did my professional career, I treated my re-enlistments as a serious issue. As a side note, ALL of my Commanders were professional AND competent enough to memorize the short oath, as did I. This cat, sorry, retired cat, had to read it from a piece of paper. Strike 2, retired cat!
