PO1 Richard Cormier - I did not understand that that was what was the stipulation with this rating change. My apologies.

PO1 Richard Cormier
2ndLt (Join to see) - It was not "the stipulation". The removal of ratings came after the Navy had decided that everyone should "cross-rate" (a Navy term for learning another sailors job). The removal of ratings was not discussed within the Navy before it happened. The sailors were told "this is happening".
I can't "justify" or "reason why" the Navy wants to do this. PC is all and good but NOT appropriate in directing a fighting force. Wish I could better explain but I can't.

PO1 Richard Cormier - The Corpsman around here have been talking about it somewhat, but I can't say that I'm well read on the subject. My apologies.

2ndLt (Join to see) - Corpsman is a proud rate, the largest number of Medal of Honor awardees in any specialty. Naval Hosptial Camp Pendelton is dedicated to their service. You tell those Docs to be proud of their rate and tradition I will always call them Doc no matter what PC bureaucrat does in DC.
