Military leaders should be more concerned about having the respect of their subordinates.

I think it is important to read the entire article. First, Admiral Losey, far from disputing the findings of the IG, accepts responsibility for them. They cite cases in which subordinate officers careers were trashed because Admiral Losey incorrectly concluded that they had participated in the whistle-blowing. Reading some of the linked articles provides further insight.
“Losey is extremely bright, hard-working and a dedicated and decorated officer, but he is no William McRaven,” Jones added. “His seniors never saw the real mean-spirited and toxic leadership style that he employed.”
I do not doubt the earnestness of Admiral McRaven, but I do not understand the leap to defend an officer who accepted responsibility for his actions in violating the law. Nor do I understand making the claim that Admiral Losey is of the highest integrity, when the IG, found an unprecedented three time violation of the law that served only his self interest.

Hardly any of the members of the senate, or the house representatives served any military time, nothing but a bunch of pampered pansies.

I agree with your general statement, it's important to note that 17 of the 26 members of the Senate Armed Services Committee served. Most of those had combat service.
