PANTHER #HISTORY:
Panther #Family, on this day Feb. 4, 1943, the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division.
Soon to be led by Col. James Gavin, the 505th PIR deployed to WWII and participated in Allied invasion of Sicily, landing at Salerno, Battle of Normandy, the Netherlands, and Battle of the Buldge.
The rich history of the regiment would continue to thrive as the unit supported campaigns in Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan.
