I guess it just all boils down to cost of the application fee.. After getting mine here in Texas. Going through course and qualification. That cost was 35 dollars. Being a veteran my CHL cost 25 dollars for the fee to get the license. This licence is good for 4 years. Non Veterans cost is a 140 dollars in comparison. So this would be a good thing for non vets..

Here in Arizona, all I had to pay for was 2 sets of fingerprints ($20), the application fee ($65) and postage. Since I am an honorably discharged vet, the state accepted my DD214 in lieu of an authorized training course.

My brother and sister in law have their CCHL from Arizona and a Nevada out-of-state one. Both states are veteran and gun friendly. I do suggest you get the training because each state has it's own spin on what you can and can not do as a responsibly armed citizen. I also suggest you join USCCA and become at least a silver member. Should you get in a "use of deadly force" situation, the legal support will prove invaluable. They also have a great magazine (Conceal Carry) and on-line training to keep you sharp and well informed.

As a resident of Arizona, and being a holder of an Arizona CWP, there are a few states that AZ has reciprocity with.

I have heard of USCCA, and follow them on Facebook though I'm not a member. I'll check it out though.

Just a bunch of hype. Virginia does have a concealed carry permit, and there is no training required if you can prove you're a vet. And a Virginia permit may be recognized by other states but that's up to those other states, not Virginia.
