Concealed-handgun carry bill triggers pushback from coastal mayors, police chiefs

Sgt Wayne Wood The only two groups who fear a law abiding citizen with a firearm are tyrants and criminals. Sadly when it comes to politicians deciding which group to place them in is a difficult decision.

Some people see a threat to their power in everything.

So? At present, I have CCW's from two States that allow me to conceal carry in 22 States. How do you handle that, Mr Medrano? And there's a simple way to know if an individual carrying a concealed firearm is in legal compliance--ask to see their CCW. Even states like Arizona--constitutional carry states--will issue permits to their residents for out of state use.

The fact of the matter is that, per the 2A, no permit should even be required once I've passed a background check to purchase a gun. But, one is. And I don't know of any State that will issue a CCW without an FBI fingerprint check. So in reality you're worried about the most law-abiding citizens in the country.

As for Mayor Bill de Blasio--please, define "sensible". You and others of your ilk employ that word so often you have cheapened it. I think your position isn't "sensible".

And we're enabling ISIS militants? Really? That's your DA's position? Does the word ludicrous mean anything to you? If not, then how about inane? Maybe insane?

A report written by the Crime Prevention Research Center in 2016 shows that, on average, firearms violations occur at a rate of 16.5 per 100,000 police officers (police officers, mind you), and only 2.4 per 100,000 permit holders.

We could go on with similar data, but the bottom line is, plain and simple, you're against guns. Period. If you had your way, the 2A would cease to exist.
