Sorry if you do your 20 and get retirement you should get it no matter what. If you file and get disability (and sorry if you’re in for 20 years Uncle Sam has damaged your body in some way through just normal wear and tear) then you should get that on top of your retirement. I always thought it was a slap in the face to retirees when the guy who did a year gets more each month tax free and the retiree gets his retirement taxed. The system needs fixed.

To take it a step further, why should someone who was medically retired, prior to 20 years, due to a service disability be forced to choose between a military retirement, or the VA disability payment? Shouldn't they also receive concurrent receipt?
