Sir, the guidance has been updated to DQ those who had to be hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 rather than those who simply tested positive. I saw the update via Army Times.

1LT (Join to see) Sir is it possible for you to repost the Up-date here? I do not get the Army times any more. But I would be interested in reading it.
Thank you for the up-date and the research, I was beginning to Think DOD had lost their collective minds.

It was from Military Times, not Army Times. My mistake.

Updated guidance allows unhospitalized COVID-19 survivors to join the military
Now, prospective recruits who have tested positive for coronavirus can join up, as long as they weren't hospitalized.

Thank you SIR this was perfect. The Military times is good as well. What i see here Makes more sense than what i had heard in the before. I think any sound decision should be held off on right now we do not know enough about the Virus say any one person should be permanently disqualified. Mabey put that enlistment on hold for a while see what the experts come up with. JMTC

This doesn't sound right to me. If having had COVID 19 is a disqualifier, are they going to discharge everyone in uniform that has had it?

LTC Jason Mackay - Can you retain someone with permanent lung or internal organ damage?

SGT (Join to see) - if they fail an MEB, they'll be separated. They separated an MP that responded to the Chlorine IED at Ft Polk due to permanent lung damage. I think the services will look at each one on a case by case basis so we don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
Like I said, they don't know what the enduring effects are. Second and third order conditions etc. My sister was positive for COVID 19 but asymptomatic. She was quarantined then cleared by public health after 14 days. Each COVID 19 case is different.
A recruit that hasn't come on active duty is different than someone already in uniform. From a compensation and grievance remedy stand point, US has more of a legal liability to deal with the latter than the former. It's like failing a pre-offer physical / physical ability test at a civilian job.

PO2 David Dunlap - How about the nursing home near my home that had 48 cases including 8 nurses? There were nine deaths. Those nurses go home to their families after their shift. Do you want to visit those patients without the proper masks and protective gear. Be my guest. LTC Jason Mackay

PO2 David Dunlap - You still did not answer my question. Do you want to visit those patients without the masks and protective gear? Do you think this is some kind of conspiracy? Your information is only half true, at best. There is not even a code for COVID 19 for Medicare patients. The case for reporting COVID 19 is a Federal mandate based on the stimulus package.

This has changed from all those infected with COVID-19 to those hospitalized from COVID-19.
