Wow , were they running out because of Afghanistan ? War can take a heavy toll on leadership at times .. this shows our Gunnys don't lead from behind...

It's good to see promotions being expedited if they're deserved. Experienced way too many promotion "freezes" in my day. Deserving Marines sitting in their rank for years because a given MOS was frozen simply for administrative purposes was highly DE-motivating.

Cpl Cary Cartter
I was frozen at E-3 for 39 months in the early 80s. That had a lot to do with why I didn't re-up. I was promoted to E-4 2 1/2 months before EAS. The recruiter was hounding me for the last two months of my enlistment; turned out they had frozen the 2531 and 2512 fields for too long and suddenly they weren't going to have enough Communication NCOs to train up.
