The end of the EU began when the first bricks were laid in building the omnipotent bureaucracy that characterizes it. Bexit and now Quitaly are just the punctuation marking ends of failed attempts by peoples to live under an oppressive centralized government. With the election of Donald Trump, it seems that many Americans have learned the lesson that Progressives have been attempting to teach us, that we should emulate Europe. Well, we are without living through the pain that they have

LTC Greg Henning I love when a party says that they stand for this or that, but offers zero plan for how it will be paid for. In the case of clean water, that should be a given, but Internet Access is not a basic human right or need. Further no statements on how to pay for it. The rejection of the referendum itself is not a bad thing in itself. The idea of checks and balances is that there is a real need for discussion, debate, and compromise to get things accomplished (something long forgotten in our own government). This would be the equivalent of an American referendum to strip power from the House of Representatives because they are always voting no. It should have failed. The Italian people understood that it was a bad idea to remove one of the locks in place to protect them from being ruled by bad government. This vote is not nearly as devastating to the EU as the British Vote earlier this year was, but if it leads to an anti EU party taking control, it could lead to that. As the story says, not by referendum of the people, rather by the people electing representatives who will pass a law to leave the EU as UK did. Fun times ahead for Europe. Of course the Italians better start saving now, we all know the EU is not going to let them leave while they still owe a debt.
