Many have scoffed at Nancy Pelosi's remark that "...we [Congress as well as the rest of us] would have to pass it [The Affordable Care Act] to see what was in it". However, it was a completely accurate statement if you look at it from the Progressive point of view. In passing the law, Congress was merely establishing goals for societal action (the regulation of the healthcare industry) that the bureaucrats would execute with rules and regulations they would craft. This is the very practice that we who oppose the progressive ideology object to. Congress is, in essence delegating legislative powers to the Executive Branch, a practice expressly forbidden in the Constitution. If you want to understand this debate, or join it, you need to understand the terms of debate. Hillsdale College is currently hosting a free on-line course, "Congress: How it worked and why is doesn't", dealing with this very subject. It takes effort to get through it, but if you don't, you had best watch the debate from the sidelines. Of course, there will be those progressives who will dismiss Hillsdale as a biased source of information rather than make a rational case of their own. Ignore them. They simply fear having their perfidy exposed...
