I don't really buy into redistricting. I am sure it does have an impact on close elections BUT if your a skilled politician your district should not matter you should be able to convince Democrats and Republicans to vote for you alike if you have a strong argument and can make a case. My two cents. I don't think there are a lot of straight hard line party voters out there despite the conventional wisdom that fear over redistricting implies. So I think redistricting only matters to mediocre candidates that barely would have won if there was no redistricting.
