So much of history hangs by a thread. Most often that thread is held together by a few brave men and women standing together in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. I suspect that no one appreciates that more than we who serve/served. I'm not sure that we can ever truly convince those who don't know how close they have come to the edge of the abyss. It really seems true that ignorance is bliss

CPT Jack Durish It is hard to even conceive the hardship that these warriors were enduring. Both sides had to be feeling the strain. I am just glad that it was the British that held out as opposed to the Germans winning a victory. It certainly would have changed the face of the war if they had succeeded in defeating the RAF.
