Fires, bricks mark daylong assault on inaugural festivities
WASHINGTON (AP) — Protesters set fires and hurled bricks in a daylong assault on the city hosting Donald Trump's inauguration, registering their rage against the new president in a series of clashes that led to more than 200 arrests. Police used pepper spray and stun grenades to prevent the chaos from spilling into Trump's formal procession and evening balls. Several spirited demonstrations unfolded peacefully at various security checkpoints...

No. I was asking more about our politicos who urged them to, how did they put it over the last 8 years, get in their face, run them away, don't allow them around, and all the other incitement to riot that was bandied about. Not a single peep of charging those politicians.

SSgt (Join to see) I don't know depends on if they were misdemeanors or felonies. Did they pleas guilty or not? You look into it. The point is they were all arrested at the time. That's not the case with this attack.

Wow. Ignorant much? They are being rounded up all over the US and arrested.
I realize you don't care how many were tried, pleaded or otherwise incarcerated but I will let you know the answer. Zero. Zilch. Not a single one of them. It took nearly 2 years for the last 39 of the 217 to have charges DROPPED but all 217 had the charges DROPPED. Not innocent. Not guilty. Effectively NOT CHARGED with any crime.
You did know that all of DC is government property and the entire are is considered the seat of the US Government? Founded on July 16, 1790, Washington, DC is unique among American cities because it was established by the Constitution of the United States to serve as the nation’s capital. You can read the actual line at the National Archives.
Article I of the United States Constitution immediately concerns itself with the establishment of the legislative branch and the creation of the House and Senate. In Section 8 of Article I, the powers of Congress receive some fleshing out (like the laying and collection of taxes, war declaration powers, post office creation, etc.). Clause 17 of that section also gives Congress the ability to create a federal district for the nation’s capital with the phrase “To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of Government of the United States.”
So, with that information, it does not matter if the riot took place inside the Congress building, or the Starbucks down the street. All of Washington DC is the "seat of government" for these United States. Keeping that in mind, the riots of 2017 should be considered under the same light as the riots of 2021. Or, flip that around, the precedence has been set that riots in Washington DC don't mean squat!
But hell! Let's charge the POTUS with these crimes. Why not?! You HATE him so much it MUST be true. You are way off base young lady. You are so blind to it that it all makes sense somehow in your world. No matter how many facts are laid at your feet you have no empathy and no will to try to understand all sides of the issue. And you certainly do not have a will to see justice done but would rather climb aboard the lynch-mobile and "hang em high"!
