I am all for punishing people for dumping plastic in the ocean (I have been to the Pacific Plastic Patch). I have even helped design methods and processes to get rid of it, but...
No one knows if that is what killed the whale. The other whale mentioned in the story they could not attribute the death to plastic. Something that might be surprising is not causation. These are the kinds of stories that piss me off because people get all worked up without the facts. If the autopsy concluded that the plastic is what killed it, then that would be a story. This is just click bait.... my 2 cents at least.
