On September 20, 2017, country superstar Shania Twain made her way to the America’s Got Talent finale to join deaf singer Mandy Harvey in an unforgettable duet.
Mandy is known for both her beautiful voice and for performing barefoot in order to keep the beat of a song despite being unable to hear. Throughout the competition, the singer shared her inspirational stories of perseverance after going deaf at age 10.
Although Shania hasn’t had to deal with the same condition, she was afflicted with health issues that recently caused her to shy away from the spotlight. A battle with Lyme disease left Shania with lesions on her vocal chords. Thankfully, she was able to recover with careful rehabilitation.
The pair’s emotional performance of “You’re Still the One” was a poignant choice for each of the ladies, who are both definitely “still going strong.”
Mandy started things off standing on her own, signing the lyrics to the classic song while Shania walked across the stage in a stunning gold mini-dress.
Although Mandy didn’t end up taking the top prize, there’s no doubt she will remember this moment for the rest of her life — and clearly still has potential to follow in Shania’s footsteps with her own career!
Shania will be releasing her first album in 15 years on September 29, 2017.
