The problem with Hollywood is that its got to sell - Current geopolitical struggles aren't relatable to most millennials or anyone else for that matter. As well I think making a movie in which a vet could relate to would at the same time alienate a vast majority of other viewers. Like the author stated WWII is morally safe high ground. As well unless its a nerd flick millennials don't go to the movies.

I think there have been a couple of movies that did a good job with the current wars -

"Taking Chance" or "The Messenger" - no some much chewing dirt but talks about the effects of war, sense of duty and honor. While hard to watch very easy to switch out Chance with some one you knew.

"The War Tapes" - more or less being there.

One I like was "A War" - A Dutch perceptive of the war in A'stan.

WWII is where my love of history lives. I'm always up for a good WWII movie, let's face it, a movie about drone strikes doesn't sound very interesting, and how many sniper movies can you watch before they get repetitive? Don't get me wrong, it's great to see our modern warriors doing their thing, but from a historical perspective I'd rather see one of these.

Hollywood will stop making WWII movies when WWII movies stop making money. It's really not hard to understand, is it?
