I won't call him racist, but I would say he is ignorant. The injustice in these situations is that the Police were the Judge, Jury, and Executioner. As for white privilege, you have to understand the history of the United States to understand what black lives matter is all about. Do you know how the police force in the united states was started? It originated from slave patrols that use to go out and search for runaway slaves [1]. A great example of this is the current drug epidemic in the United States. In the 70's, 80's and 90's, African Americans that used drugs were seen as criminals that needed to be locked away. Now that young white Americans are using drugs at a high rate, they need love and treatment[2]. What happened to putting the drug criminals in jail? The drugs are the same. The crime is the same, but the difference is who is using. Here's another example, Man walks into a church and sits through bible study. He then kills 9 of the people in the church. He runs. The police find him and take him in peacefully. Then they took him to Burger King to get food because he was hungry [3]. Here is another one, Man shoots up a movie theater killing several people. Police arrive on the scene and arrest him without killing him [4]. If there was ever a time to be scared for your life as a Police officer, it would have to be in those two cases. Here's another one, Man rapes a women, gets convicted and only spends 3 months in jail [5]. What about the judges that said statistically whites get lesser sentences than anyone else for the same crimes [6]? Or what about the judge that would sentence people to jail and was getting kick backs from the jail he was sending them to [7]. White privilege in the United States is simply white Americans get the benefit of the doubt, especially in the judicial system [8]. Everyone else gets the hammer (that a generalization, but it is the root of the term). I do agree that the stories are not a fair representation in every case.

Also, Modern Police Departments derivatives from Slave Patrols. Sorry, you need to research that one a little deeper as well. I only spent 10 min on Google and have enough doubts on that little bit of revisionist history to throw the BS flag on a good part of it. Had you said SOME SOUTHERN POLICE DEPARTMENTS, I might be persuaded but the blanket statement implying all Police Departments have that heritage is pure BS. Further the implication behind the false history is that the entire criminal element within the African American group operates off a single hive mind that dates back to the 1830's and this is what explains everything. C'mon get serious. While history may play a role in some folks behavior the group does not act or behave as a monolith.

I will rebut your statements in the morning, but before I sign off, I just have three questions. 1) Do you think white drug addicts today are treated the same as black drug addicts in the 70's, 80's, and 90's? 2) Do you support police brutality? 3) If a 12-year old white kid was outside playing with a toy gun and a police officer drove up and shot him within 3 seconds, would that be a justified killing? As a side note, saying yes does not make you a racist.

CPT Adam P. - 1) OK, I am trying to figure out why that does not make sense to you as society changes over time in it's approach to crime. So the answer is NO for #1 because society has changed in its attitudes since those decades. #2 Yes, absolutely in some cases as proven again and again with it's effective use and application by the German Polizei unfortunately it is not widely accepted in this country and we prefer probation over and over again leading to a hardened criminal that does not have any fear or respect for police. #3 No, that would be an accidental shooting that happens with our Military, BTW. Cite as an example the Marine Recon unit deployed to Texas Border in the 1990's under the Clinton Administration that did the exact same thing........same scenario. Shot to death a young Texas kid near the border who was carrying a stick the Marines thought was a rifle he was pointing in their direction. Young American kid against a fully armed squad of Marines.......viewed as a threat to their lives. So it happens with even highly trained folks.

So for you, it was okay to put African Americans in jail for the same crime, which by the way is still on the books, that white people are committing today? Got it! You think Police Brutality is a good thing? Check, Gotcha! Marines are not Police officers trained to 1) PROTECT and 2) SERVE. Marines are an instrument of war. They are hammers and because of this everything looks like nails to them.
