Defending the Tan Son Nhut Airbase

I was at Tan Son That a few days after Get in 68. I had been in the 90th Repo Depot awaiting transport to my unit when Tea began on the 30th of January. I remember the hundreds of POW's at the Base. most all very young men. I gave out all my cigarettes to them.

Then I left for the 25th ID in Cu Chi for furtherance to A 2/12 Inf at Dau Tieng.

Remember landing there in a steep dive in Feb ‘66. Total system shock. And leaving in ‘67 and climbing quickly while taking small arms fire. Even after they dressed it up a bit, it was still a hellhole.
