In my opinion, when demographics and diversity become more important than the mission, we will see a decline in proficiency.

Interesting about the current diversity, but the numbers between 1974 and 1995 appear to be quite different and off from what I remember. Since it doesn't have the dip for the post-Vietnam War drawdown. Especially considering that in stateside units the manning was less than half what was and is authorized., and we were stealing from Peter to pay Paul in the combat preparedness areas both in equipment and personnel.
