I always loved this since I was a kid, I had one when I was eight, I always thought it way ahead of its time as a cheap STEM comp sci (CS) trainer for kids....

As I'd said, Minds On Toy's makes a cheap cardboard remake of it, really worthwhile, honest....

Look up Minds On Toys, they sell a cheap remake, I think they're in NJ or PA, and also Evil Mad Scientist makes the Digi-Comp Ii...there are also software emulator packages that ate downloadable as well to simulate both of them, I think Dr Nim and Think a Dot also....

Have him download this, if he hasn't done software engineering get, on a serious academic level, this is one of the nest intros for kids I've seen, of he's older than that, even still, he might get a kick out of tpjust trying it, it's a total freebie, with numerous example programs, just download, install, and go on any Windows machine....
