With my group, we require a DD-214 for anyone who was in the service. The main reason is that we have to get a security clearance through the DOD. An OTH won't terminate you right out. We are more interested in the discharge code. IE: You can have an OTH with a KFS. If we see a KFS we will consider that a disqualifying factor for the DOD contract we are on. Any group that has a recruiting division with a veteran specialist will be more interested in the discharge code as they understand not all OTH's are equal.

I've heard that civilian companies don't care about your discharge. It's a different story if you were applying for a state or federal job. As for an OTH by "talking back" is far fetched, in my experience. That would normally fall under a pattern of misconduct. Talking back would be dealt with by a letter of reprimand or an Article 15, not so favorable in the Reserves as it's not as effective as it would be on an active duty Soldier. I know the PTSD matter rose up in my command as we had to start screening all of our cases to determine to if that a potential case.
