The one and only time I was asked this, I asked the Dr. if he had any liquor at his house and how much. When he said he didn't see that as relevant to the discussion. I told him I didn't see that whether I had guns or how many was relevant to my getting my asthma medicine. After an awkward silence I got my refill and he never bothered me about it again.

How is asking if I own a gun related in any way to my health?
So NO, they don't have a right.

CPO Andy Carrillo, MS
CPO Frank Coluccio I am reaching here with conjecture, but I presume inquiring about guns in the home might be equated to a "health hazard" if the doctor has reason to believe you might be suicidal (which by definition also implies homicidal).

CPO Andy Carrillo, MS - The ONLY case where the doctor has a right to ask if you own a gun or if there are guns in the household, is if you are under the care of a Mental Health Care Specialist.
Your regular physician has no right.

It is not, but it is a way of creating a defacto gun registration and a method of disarming those who may disagree with those in power.

That is neither the responsibility nor part of the job description of a physician... Other alternatives must be considered..
As we are on the issue, one does not need gun to cause damage.. Cybercrimes should be more concerning as in the past year organized criminal efforts have been directed toward US government, military infrastructure and last but not least US SME and health care system... I can not understand why are we ignoring these sensitive issues...
