Damages are key to rulings in civil torts and I guess are considered in criminal prosecution to a lesser extent. But Manning already had his trial, was found guilty, sentenced to confinement, and is now free due to having the sentence commuted. As an after-action topic we should look at damages to minimize the impact, and I'm sure they will. That does not change what Manning did though. The gender issue has no bearing either, although some are using it for sympathy points. Thanks for sharing the article.
