There are two kinds of people. Those who need all the uniforms, pomp and circumstance and a tank conveniently in the background to hear the call of the nation asking for their service and those who just need someone to give them a better direction for their lives. of course, this is not my AFSC/MOS so I will let those who do market research with
"focus groups" handle the issue of staffing our bases with the best and the brightest.

A1C Ian Williams I have a good friend who is retired from the Airforce spent her entire career doing promo for the service as a public affairs liaison officer. Now she does the same thing as a civilian on the army side. It is indeed a commitment through many channels including the civilian community.

Of course engagement=marketing. To Evolve they actually need to get out into communities where we see the least presence of the military, not near military installations. Which states have the least military enlistment rates etc? I mean I was surprised when my high school got an ROTC program because to tell you the truth while Utah does have an airforce base and a big national guard I felt we didn't necessarily have a good education on the military and how they are significant to the country. Perhaps due to the dominant religion and their practices to send men on missions rather than to war?!

SPC Britanny *Winnie* Balthaser - I agree with you on that I want to see more involvement in my community from my base. The community is very involved in celebrating the base I am at. Obviously, there is a huge difference between cornering someone and saying "Let me tell you about the great armed services" and finding those people who are open to a longer conversation to tell them about the great armed services. (Disclaimer: I'm a bit bias because we're awesome)
