I am very happy that this happened and I hope more are tracked down and convicted. I'd like to see a focus on the military and have DOJ examine MEDCOM's records and the total number of psychotropics prescribed per year, from which Doctor, and to whom. I'd bet we would start to link the military suicide rate to the over prescription of medication to our service members.

LTC (Join to see) it's a problem in general however it is much more prominent among the military population due to the high rate of traumatic experiences that are so much apart of our activities necessary in the advancement of freedom. Part of the problem is that psychotropics are generally used as a first course of action, when really unless there is a chemical imbalance then the medication can only cause one dependent on the type of medication prescribed. Serotonin uptake Inhibitors and Nokia's should not be utilized as a course of treatment for PTSD. It is not as a result of chemical imbalance in the brain therefore we should not be altering the chemical balance of the brain. In severe cases where the individual is chronically unable to sleep is having severe flashbacks things like this then yes a anti-anxiety medication can certainly be helpful in assisting with sleep and with felt fears during waking hours, but this should be in a somewhat limited capacity as these are highly addictive. To it should be utilized in conjunction with bioenergetics and other practical applications which provide the vent for release of what is remembered and the survival skills surpass. Military PTSD a lot of the treatment circumvents the amazing individual that they are in the courage in experiencing all that they have. Counseling can inadvertently inbred fears and when the fear becomes the focus then their courage become secondary when that courage is the very essence of healing. I believe that there is some resistance in the ability to openly share with friends and superiors, dad's in arms if they are experiencing the level of PTSD that they are. Perhaps feeling that they shouldn't be feeling where they are or that someone may change their opinion or somehow lose a sense of pride in the awareness of their PTSD. And this causes the majority are then suffering in silence and suffering alone. This means that when they do seek treatment often times it will not be with someone that has any clues what they're going to AZ never been in the service as never seen any action and if not something which anyone can grasp from a book or a classroom. So of course since they can't relate they simply issue medication. If someone has actively taken the steps to seek out counseling be very active healing active counseling actually bring things more to the surface meaning that they will be experiencing more pain not less pushing them even further into their shell without an active support system they can become extremely solitary. This in conjunction with medication that changes in stifles naturally emotional reactions and the natural ability for endorphins to take over to change the climatic triggers to your experiences. It's a very sad Solitaire download cycle towards suicide. I wish there could be a grater acceptance of human emotion among the mail service population females don't have the same problem quite as much because there's not as much Stigmata attached to our emotional responses. Yes we certainly can get PTSD and in that instance there is a higher rate of PTSD among non service females than among non-service males. Four men are already societally induced towards hiding emotion keeping things in being strong not letting me when anyone else see them having emotions because then they're weak and in a point-of-service this is exacerbated from day one beginning in basic so that experiencing that I think is maybe kind of damasculating in a sense for the man. And that I think is a large driver down that dark alley.
AZ to that all I can say is that no one can ever truly explain just how cherished each and everyone of You Are how amazing you are for the things that you do the things that you endure and somehow still manage to be you. As an individual I respect each and everyone of you as a nation we respect each and everyone of you we each and everyone of us owe Our Lives our liberties our freedom to each and everyone of you.

Erin Nelson - That is a nice comment and I agree to a point. I saw first hand how the system failed the Soldier and the Soldier that tried to game the system in order to get more disability. I think overall use of medication is an issue and suicides are a by-product of this over prescription. Medicine for nightmares don't stop the nightmares, they just stop you from remembering you had one. So, your body and mind is not getting the sleep it needs. HIPPA and the Privacy Act are contributing factors. I may know every medication my Soldiers were taking but I could not tell a spouse to watch out for their Soldier or to watch out for a particular effect of medication.

More, more more! I keep reminding you all to read the VAOIG Reports. Finally, an administration that will act on them.
