Donald Trump's highly personal diplomacy

I love the little omissions in news stories. For example, this reporter tells us, "The president signed up to the final communiqué and then withdrew his support, criticising his Canadian host with insulting tweets from Air Force One." Where's the part about Prime Minister Trudeau criticizing President Trump? Just fit that little fact following "final communiqué" then you understand why President Trump withdrew his support. Yes, President Trump is taking a very hands on approach to diplomacy because his own State Department is staffed with professional diplomats who have been screwing things up for several decades now and don't seem inclined to respond well to new direction. This is nothing new. The pros at the State Department have always had little regard for Presidents. They have always considered each new Administration as another cross to bear, another idiot leader for them to either train or ignore.
