A few things we see right now(11:30-12:00) Eastern time. The system farther moves inland, the more this system breaks down. On the east side, appears a dry area but that is filling in as the system becomes more like a garden variety Mid-Latitude Low. There will be some adiabatic lift when the Low circulations goes up and over the mountains on the windward side and decrease as downslope begins.
Places like Lake Charles and New Orleans and swinging back towards Galveston and Houston will still see winds, high tides, massive flooding. Where the low goes (center) is just a point of reference. Remember too, that storm surges are particulary strong. Most tornados occur to the part of the system.
