Dragonfly swarm takes over Rhode Island beach: "Is the world ending?"

The News had a whole piece on this morning. According to them this isn't that unusual except this migration was over a populated beach.

I saw an old map* (2012) from "The Dragonfly Lady" (Christine Goforth). Swarms look to be common (at least 12 years ago) on the East coast from New Jersey up to Massachusetts.
This was apparently one of the rarer types (a 'migratory swarm' instead of a 'feeding swarm') that had hundreds of thousands dragonflies in it (although one article from Men's Journal baselessly said it was "billions"*)

I'd be cheering the swarm on. Those guys deplete the mosquito population quite nicely.
Now if only they'd develop a taste for the black and yellow types with a bad attitude...

Only today's media would run with something like this and only in a blue state would the people fret like it was a sign of the apocalypse. Be thankful the swarm wasn't cockroaches...
