Drones, hypersonic weapons, lasers and engines for next generation

Ultimately, the fighting edge will be honed by sharper computers. Human pilots cannot take full advantage of the increased speed and fighting range of these systems without computer copilots. In some cases, the human pilot is a limiting factor inasmuch as allowances must be made for life support and agility is restricted to prevent killing or disabling the on board human pilot while maneuvering. Although the US has traditionally led in developing new computer technologies, we are constantly falling behind in manufacturing critical components for the hardware needed to hos them. Sadly, we depend on potential enemy nations for many of these.
