Did you not read the entire document. We had a bad call due to the fact that our previous naive president agreed to take refugees that even Australia refused to take in.

Our president job is to protect Americans and taking in immigrants that another country does not want is just plain stupid.

Actually, I did and all the Aussie PM asked is if Trump was going to honor the agreement made between him and Obama. Instead, Trump wanted to talk about the election results like the PM wasn't paying attention or didn't know about it

SSG Michael Hartsfield - So you think former President Obama agreement is in the best interest of the U.S.

SPC Carlos R. - I will counter your question by asking do you think Trump has the US's best interest?
BLUF, this agreement was made so that 1) The US would share the responsibility of taking care of Syrian refugees and 2) Show the world that in spite of what we say or how we act, we acknowledge that we ALL are a nation of immigrants and it's our duty to take care of those that need help (Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, and those yearning to breathe free. I remember seeing that somewhere) and to turn our collective backs on those people that we know need help makes us hypocrites

While the US does have some good points, Australia takes very few immigrants (per capita) and those they do are well vetted and 80% women or children. Trump needs to learn tact...

"That threw more confusion over the status of the controversial deal Australia agreed with former President Barack Obama late last year for the United States to resettle up to 1,250 asylum seekers held in offshore processing camps on Pacific islands in Papua New Guinea and Nauru."

Interesting that Australia is holding the refugees on offshore Islands versus on the mainland of Australia.
