They could have drawn up a map of friendly and enemy forces.

I saw it on Sunday on a pretty large screen. I thought it was very well done. There are essentially 4 stories going on at the same time. The story of the average British soldier, the story of a couple of Spitfire pilots flying air cover, the boats coming from England to rescue stranded soldiers and the story of the leaders on the docks trying to get people off the beach and back to England.

The stories intertwined very well and overlapped at varying places very well too. I thought it had an intensity to it without any of the Saving Private Ryan beach scene stuff. The story was the main focus. The frustration of trying to get out and get home, so close they could almost see it but no way to get there.

I would recommend the film.

Cpl Jeff N. They also managed to convey that desperation throughout each aspect. Showing that from the soldier on the beach to the pilot in the air and from the highest officer to lowest private the desperation of the situation spared nobody.

Yes, good point. Then tension is evident on everyone. The situation was desperate: they all knew it and there was a real chance they would be killed or captured.
