Happens all the time in the civilian world........I’ve witnessed it.
The best bean counter doesn’t necessarily make that person the best leader.
How does a person relate to people...........that defines the presence or absence of leadership.
Leadership is a trained skill: it requires a lifetime of mentoring & a resume of mistakes. So you’d be forgiven if you concluded good leadership is rare.

Just stumbled across this thread. I agree with SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" I don't understand why there isn't more response to this thread. I know "Toxic leadership" gets thrown around enough that people simply get tired of hearing about it. But it is something leaders and future leaders need to understand if they want to benefit their organizations, not just make rank.
