Anyone who tries to conflate nationalized healthcare and Obamacare clearly doesn't understand nationalized healthcare or Obamacare very well.

Absolutely true. Obamacare was only implemented to destroy the private healthcare system, thus paying the way for nationalized healthcare.

CPT Jack Durish - I think the word "destroy" is a big exaggeration, and is more rhetoric or hyperbole. In my opinion, Obamacare was designed to fix the flaws in the existing health insurance market, rather than to blow it up. After all, it was a Republican policy, hatched in a Republican think tank, and pushed by Republican politicians for years...until Obama embraced it.

Sadly, none of the pros are valid. We have plenty of evidence from our experience with Medicare that it increases costs for an economy. Simply look at the rise in the cost of healthcare in the US compared to the rate of inflation. Basically, they were about equal until the passage of Medicare. Immediately, the cost of healthcare began outpacing inflation by a significant margin. And, as for eliminating the need to deal with private insurance. True. However, we now have to deal with a bureaucracy that is less efficient and more costly than private health insurance. Allow me to provide an example. Prior to using Medicate, I paid approximately $750/mo for health insurance for my wife and myself. We paid a small deductible for doctor's visits, and the insurance paid the balance of the doctor's bill. 100% of it. Under Medicate, we pay for Part B benefits, as well as supplemental health insurance and prescription benefits. The cost of all these for my wife and myself is about $725/month. We pay a small copay for each doctor visit and Medicare pays about 20% of what he bills. Actually, the government pays less than that. Medicare decides what they will allow for the service provided and pay a portion of that. Our supplemental policies pay the balance. No, not the balance of the total bill, but rather the difference between what Medicare allows and Medicare pays. So, who pays the rest of the bill? Non medicare patients...
