It is amazing how this tool has started to fade with some younger leaders. I was a SPC yes. But I also had a team that I was in charge of and I also had / was accountable for a leader's book on all of my guys.

Leaders books are an outstanding tool. I agree that some NCOs/Leaders don't understand how to use them. There is a reason that the SGT Audie Murphy Board requires candidates to present their Leaders Books. My Leaders book is a simple working document. It is my green book that I carry with me everywhere including the field and motor pool. It is the same book I used when attending the SAMC board. I highly encourage everyone to have a working document for a Leaders book its worth it.
