Why do these people assume that just because this guy was a Republican that us Republicans would defend criminal actions?

SGT William Howell I think it is more a function of the polarized political climate we live in. The assumption being that right or wrong is a matter of the letter after the name. The presumption that either party would defend one of their own no matter how heinous an act was committed (I am not saying this qualifies just a generalization). It is a very valid point about politics today. The problem with this is that it could very well be using him as a human shield against further investigation just as easily as it could be genuine outrage that he broke the law. Again in our current political climate, regardless of party, you just don't know if outrage is genuine or posturing. It is a really sad commentary on our current state of affairs.

I don't care if you are Republican/Democrat/Independent/Tea Party/Libertarian...you are not above the law. If you broke it, you need to be held accountable. Hate to see a lifelong of credible service tarnished with a few bad decisions but it happens.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth The sad truth, whether because we have more access, or just because it is happening more often, is that it seems to be happening a lot more in recent times. Between Flynn, the pornstar SEAL, and other incidents it just seems like people can't get out of their own way when it comes to bad decisions.
