Apparently, not only was he a FBI agent for 2 years...but had 10 years active duty time in the Army and 8-9 years in the Ohio National Guard. He was supposedly SF during his time in the Army - which by all accounts could just be he was a member of the SOF community and not an actual long tabber (media tends to label anyone in the SOF community as SF). He did some private security contract work between his stint in the Army and FBI as well. During his pararescue training - apparently he didn't do so well during one of the water survival tests and that led to him going AWOL for 10 days.
