They just can't help themselves. It used to be "out of many, one", now it's 'one supercedes the many'.

LTC Trent Klug - Again, they are goals and not quotas, and it's applicant pools, accessed candidates. But yes, the memo asks the recruiters to make some attempts in recruiting markets that they might be ignoring, in addition to the easier markets.
And let's be completely honest, recruiters themselves are one part of the reason that qualified applicants who aren't white males don't end up in the applicant pools, because some recruiters are avoiding that market.
And again, as these are just goals, the memo is telling them to at least try.

LTC Trent Klug - short version:
The counter argument would be that the other race has already been recruited less, every year since 1947, because of no DEI, and DEI would suggest that you try to recruit all the qualified applicants fairly.

SGM Jeff Mccloud That's not what Browns memo did. It specifically targeted one race to be less recruited than the others. It did not mention to recruit the races equally at all.

You mean, sort of like when the Secretary of Defense renamed Fort Liberty back to Ft. Bragg by picking another Soldier named "Bragg"?? That kind of "head fake"...?? I see. OK.

Not sure how we went from "Office of Community Culture" to a Ft Bragg discussion. Ft Bragg is the home to the 82nd - they have a long and rich history When I hear the name Ft Liberty, I think of some far-off FOB in Afghanistan. This was a slap in the face to all who have served at Ft Bragg. Political correctness has degraded our military and it's time to refocus on the mission. Ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected as an individual is not DEI, it's good leadership.
