The F-35 is an expensive aircraft, but was designed to fill a necessary role. Different missions require different aircraft. Are politics involved, of course, is there another way around it, not that I know of. The F-22 is/has been a problematic aircraft uncertain aspects, but every aircraft takes time to be tested and run hard. You never know what might go wrong until you push something to its limits. Have faith in leadership. These decisions are WAY out of our hands.

SSgt (Join to see) understood, sir. My main beef with the plane is that it was supposed to be the successor to the F16. And it was heading that way, until someone cane up with the idea that it should replace the A10, too.
Have a role for the bird, and stick with it. A magical Swiss Army knife in the sky is a myth that just isn't feasible at this time.

For the amount of money that has been spent on this mediocre machine they could've kept the F-22 going and perfected it.

SSG (Join to see) 'Zactly. It was, and is, a hell of a lot closer to being a complete bird than the 35 is projected to be in the near future.

The F-22 is still going and only in the last 5 years has been proven to be mission effective down range. 2 different birds for different applications.
