Straight truth with the early total lockdowns, and then the rolling lockdowns that continued in many States making employment questionable.

Who knew taking care of troops (even recruits) meant the troops did better for their leaders? What a novel concept. (Sarcasm filter off.)
Had this been my basic experience, it would have been a much better experience. I was sick for 5 weeks, ended up a medical hold for two months, and got shipped before I was recovered just because I didn't want to keep painting everything. I didn't get physically right until I went to Iraq 10 months later. Unit thought I was a scumbag, sent me to the BC's PSD, and I crewed vehicles. My body finally had a chance to heal, and by the end of deployment, I was able to get strong and stay that way. Taught me a lot about dealing with "scumbag" soldiers. Some of them truly are, but many just need a different approach.
